Calling All Candidates! PGI Seeks Award Nominations

PGI Logo6 December 2006 - Each year, Preservation Greensboro Incorporated honors noteworthy preservation projects throughout greater Greensboro that were completed (or substantially completed) the following year. The guidelines for the awards include consideration of the historic integrity of the site following the Secretary of Interior’s Guidelines for Historic Rehabilitation. Emphasis is given to restoration projects that exemplify Greensboro's cultural, historical, and architectural heritage. Also, exterior work takes preference over interior work, since people enjoy seeing the results of the restoration without having to knock on doors and request a tour! We are not looking for dramatic, or heavy-handed renovation projects...we will keep that to television shows such as "Flip This House" and other made for TV makeover projects. This is about recognizing careful and considerate restoration projects of all kinds (commercial, residential, institutional, landscape) across our city.

Do you know of any great preservation projects that desrve recoginition? If so, please contact Benjamin Briggs at Preservation Greensboro. With your nomination, preservation projects may be considered for recognition at the PGI Annual Meeting in February.
